Chennai Super Kings beat Kolkata Knight Riders by two wickets in a thrilling game at the Eden. Batting first, Kolkata Knight Riders could manage 179/6 in 20 overs, thanks to Noor Ahmed’s four-fer, while CSK;s top order collapsed initially, but Dewald Brevis’ and Shivam Dube’s knock sealed CSK’s win.

‌With no chance of making the playoffs and now playing for honour and pride, Chennai Super Kings faced off against Kolkata Knight Riders. Kolkata's skipper Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and chose to bat first on a batting-friendly surface in Kolkata. The Purple-clad team got off to a shaky start, losing opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz in the second over. However, Sunil Narine and Rahane looked solid, accelerating the score to 67/1 by the end of the powerplay. The momentum shifted towards CSK when Narine and Angkrish Raghuvanshi were dismissed by Noor Ahmad in the eighth over. The situation worsened when a well-set Rahane was sent back by Ravindra Jadeja in the 13th over for 48 off 33 balls. With Manish Pandey and Andre Russell adding 46 runs, KKR reached 138/4 in 16 overs. Russell’s explosive innings was cut short when he fell to Noor in the 17th over. Despite a brilliant four-wicket haul from Noor, KKR was restricted to 179/6, with Ramandeep Singh and Rinku Singh failing to make an impact in the final overs.

In response, Chennai Super Kings lost three wickets in the powerplay, slipping to 37/3 in just three overs. The situation worsened further as Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin fell quickly, leaving CSK at 60/5 in 5.2 overs, with Shivam Dube and Dewald Brevis at the crease. The duo steadied the ship with a 67-run partnership, with Brevis blitzing a 22-ball half-century, bringing the score to 127/5 in 12 overs. However, Brevis’ rampage came to an end when he was dismissed by Varun Chakravarthy in the 13th over. With MS Dhoni and Shivam Dube at the crease, CSK were 147/6 in 16 overs, leaving them needing 33 runs off the final four overs to secure victory. With 22 required from the last three overs, all eyes were on Dube and Dhoni to finish the job. Unfortunately, Dube (45 off 40)  was scalped at a crucial juncture when Arora scalped him in the 19th over. The woe persisted for CSK again when Noor Ahmed was scalped in the 19th over by Arora. But Dhoni’s six off the first ball of the 20th over gave hope to CSK as they needed two off four deliveries. Ultimately, Anshul Kamboj’s four off the fourth delivery took CSK to the winning line. With the loss, KKR’s playoff chances remain doubtful as they lost the game by two wickets.
