LAKR vs SF Review | Andre Fletcher’s swashbuckling century helps LAKR end campaign on winning note in rain-inflicted game

Andre Fletcher’s blistering century in the first innings helped the Los Angeles Knight Riders post a mammoth total in the first innings in the game reduced to 19 overs due to rain interruption. Later in the innings, LAKR bundled out San Francisco to end their MLC campaign on a winning note.
LAKR were asked to bat first by SF’s toss-winning skipper, Matthew Short. However, this decision backfired on the Unicorns as the star LAKR opener Andre Fletcher showed no mercy to the opponent bowlers. He smashed a swashbuckling century, scoring 118 runs off just 58 balls, with 10 fours and eight sixes. Following him, his opening partner Alex Hales and star number three batter Sherfane Rutherford also smashed 58 and 49 runs off just 26 and 28 balls to help their side post a massive total of 243/3 in the allotted 19 overs of the rain-inflicted game.
Xavier Bartlett, Hassan Khan, and Karima Gore scalped a wicket each for the Unicorns in the first innings, alongside leaking a lot of runs with an expensive economy of more than 10 runs per over.
While chasing the target, the Unicorns got a shaky start as they lost their top three wickets at the score of just 7 runs in 1.4 overs. But the number four batter, Sanjay Krishnamurthi, played a fiery knock to help his side make a comeback in the game; he scored 92 runs off just 40 balls, with seven fours and as many sixes. Following him, Hassan Khan and Hammad Azam also added the individual contributions of 35 and 38 runs off just 17 and 27 balls, respectively, followed by Bartlett’s 13-ball 27 runs. But these knocks couldn’t help the Unicorns to get over the finishing, and they got all out at 233 in 18.5 overs, losing the game by 11 runs.
LAKR’s star opener and centurion, Andre Fletcher, was adjudged ‘Man of the Match’ for his outstanding and match-winning knock of 118 runs off just 58 balls.
