Vaibhav Suryavanshi made IPL history on Monday by smashing a 35-ball ton for RR against GT in Jaipur

Every once in a while a generational talent comes along that makes the mind truly believe for a moment that perhaps age is actually just a number. None fits the bill better than Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who continued to smash expectations in Jaipur on Monday with the second fastest ton in IPL history.

‌Gujarat Titans did not know what hit them at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Monday as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi tallied the highest partnership in Rajasthan Royals history to make the 210-run target feel paltry. The younger member of the duo was responsible for meting most of the damage, as he continued with his trademark approach of going berserk from ball one and never looked back. By the time he departed the pitch in the 12th over, the result was a foregone conclusion and the history books decorated with some new indelible ink that would take a miracle and then some to write over.

Vaibhav declared his intentions with an incredulous six down the ground off Mohammed Siraj on just the second delivery he faced, and then pummelled Ishant Sharma for three sixes and two fours in the fourth over to get the juggernaut in full swing. However, the 14-year-old's best was yet to come.

When Karim Janat took the ball for the 10th over, Vaibhav was batting on 64 off 28 -- he was six away from a ton by the time the Afghan was through with his six balls. He was greeted to the IPL with a gorgeous hit over square leg, made to feel optimistic when an outside edge flew for four, and then quickly broken again when the next ball once again ended beyond the fence. Vaibhav, in no mood to relent, continued his onslaught by sending first a bumper and then a fulltoss on its way to the boundary before capping off the boundary-laden over with a stunning wag over the midwicket fence.

In the next over, Vaibhav brought up a 35-ball ton -- the second fastest in IPL history behind Chris Gayle's 30-ball effort -- by smashing none other that Rashid Khan for another maximum, eventually ending with 11 sixes and seven boundaries in his knock of 101. The entire stadium rose as one while the magic unfolded in Jaipur, and even Twitterati took a rare moment to catch its breath before praise came raining down on the youngest player and centurion in IPL history.
