PAK W vs SA W first ODI Preview | South Africa look to master subcontinent conditions ahead of World Cup

Pakistan Women will meet South Africa Women in the first of the three-match ODI series at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Tuesday. Both sides will use the series to fine-tune their preparations ahead of the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, starting in India and Sri Lanka later this month.
The Proteas Women head into Pakistan after their white-ball tour of the West Indies in June earlier this month. They won the three-match ODI series 2-1 before losing the T20I leg by the same margin.
Tazmin Brits was South Africa’s top batter in that ODI series with 184 runs, including a century and a fifty, at an average of 61.33, while skipper Laura Wolvaardt scored 130 runs, averaging 43.33. Brits has also topped the run charts for the Proteas in ODIs this year with 371 runs from seven games, while Annerie Dercksen has amassed 329 runs at an average of 54.83. On the bowling front, left-arm spinner Nonkululeko Mlaba has the most wickets for them this year, with 13 scalps in six games.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Women will play their first ODI after finishing unbeaten in the World Cup Qualifiers campaign earlier in April. Captain Fatima Sana has led her side from the front, being their top wicket-taker in 2025 with 12 wickets, while the left-arm spin duo of Nashra Sandhu and Sadia Iqbal have 10 and nine wickets, respectively. Sidra Amin and Muneeba Ali are on top of the run pile for the Women in Green this season with 225 and 223 runs, respectively, in five games.

Pitch and Conditions
The Gaddafi Stadium surface is expected to be flat and dry, with some assistance to spinners before easing out to help the batters in the second half of the game. Dew might also have an impact in the day-night game with the slower bowlers facing challenges to grip the ball as the contest progresses.
The weather is expected to be clear in Lahore at the start of the gam with temperatures expected to be around 27 degrees. It will get cloudy as the game proceeds, with chances of rain at night placed at 55%.
