WI vs AUS | Still finding his feet in the environment, Aussie head coach Mcdonald on Konstas

Sam Konstas' struggles on the West Indies tour are turning out to be a huge concern for Australia. The 19-year-old batter, after a great performance on debut, has failed to show consistency. However, Australia head coach Andrew McDonald has claimed that it is too early to judge his performances.
Australia head coach Andrew McDonald has opened up on the performances of up-and-coming top-order batter Sam Konstas, who has failed to perform in the first two Tests against the West Indies.
Konstas came into the limelight during the last Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where he scored a quickfire 60 off 65 deliveries against India at the MCG on debut. However, his performances in the three games since have been disappointing, where he has only managed to score 78 runs at an average of 13, including scores of 25 and 0 in the last Test at Grenada. Nevertheless, McDonald has highlighted some positives in his game that might hold him in good stead going forward.
"Four games in, eight innings, it's probably early for anyone to judge, really. I think the challenges in Test cricket aren't necessarily always your skill level or your technique. It's dealing with the moments, the pressure, all the other things that externally come with that as well. He's a player finding his feet in the environment,” McDonald said at a recent press conference.
“[It was] a small step forward in the last game with that first innings. I thought the way he structured up his first 20-odd balls, he had the positive intent, he was moving a lot better compared to the game before, where it looked like he was stuck in the middle and didn't know whether to play a shot and it was either ultra-aggressive or ultra-defensive,” he concluded.
Konstas would have one final opportunity to push for an Ashes spot for the winter when Australia take on West Indies in the third and final Test, a day/night pink ball affair in Kingston beginning July 13.
