Barcelona are set to offer a contract extension to Eric Garcia, currently tied until 2026, to avoid entering next season with expiring deals. Despite interest from Girona, Real Sociedad, and Serie A Como with an €8m bid, Garcia has prioritized staying. Under Hansi Flick, the 24-year-old has earned more game time, though not as a guaranteed starter.

As the Champions League semi-final second leg approaches, Barcelona defender Eric Garcia is expected to replace Jules Kounde in the lineup, signalling his growing importance in the squad. Though Garcia is under contract until the summer 2026, Barcelona, led by Director of Football Deco, is working to ensure no player enters the final year of their deal without clarity. Rather than selling him, the club has reportedly opted to offer Garcia a contract extension, according to Sport.

Despite offers from other clubs, Garcia has shown loyalty to Barcelona. Following a strong loan spell at Girona, coach Michel Sanchez tried to sign him again. Real Sociedad also expressed interest, while Italian club Como, managed by Cesc Fabregas, submitted an €8 million bid in January. However, new coach Hansi Flick convinced Garcia to stay on both occasions.

Now 24, Garcia is receiving consistent playing time due to injuries to teammates like Marc Bernal and Marc Casado. While he’s unlikely to secure a permanent starting role when everyone is fit, Barcelona values him as a reliable squad member. Moving elsewhere could guarantee him regular starts, making his decision a pivotal one for the next phase of his career.
