PBKS vs DC | Twitter is furious as Karun Nair goes overboard with honesty to nearly cost team six runs

‌After being put into bat first, Punjab got off to a shaky start in a crucial game at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur that could decide their top two prospects. However, they pulled things back with Josh Inglis scoring an enterprising cameo and skipper Shreyas Iyer once again playing a crucial knock. 

With six overs left, PBKS were placed at 134/4 with Shreyas and Shashank Singh at the crease and looking to end the innings with a flourish. With only seven runs conceded in the first five balls and the PBKS batters unable to get a boundary, Mohit Sharma bowled a short of the length delivery to Shashank. The middle-order batter went for the pull but could not time it because of the extra bounce as long-on fielder Karun Nair came into play.

Karun touched the boundary skirting while going for the catch and after completing the catch put the ball in as he lost balance. And then assuming that it was a six, he signals the umpire that it was a six. However, replays showed that Karun had not caught the ball while he touched the rope and was clearly away from it when he took the catch.

It would have been an embarrassing moment for him had the umpires not gone up for the check and signalled it as a six but luckily it turned otherwise. Twitter was not impressed as they slammed Karun’s over-honesty that would have cost the team six valuable runs.
