IPL | Twitter in splits as Nehal Wadhera slips landing short while going for a skier from Abdul Samad

Fielding in dewy conditions can be tricky and Nehal Wadhera found it out the hard way as he slipped while running in to take a catch during the PBKS vs LSG game. The Punjab batter, stationed at mid-wicket, was on track to take a skier from Abdul Samad before losing balance and landing short.

‌Punjab Kings, in their bid to move second in the IPL 2025 points table, put on a clinical batting display on the back of Prabhsimran Singh’s 48-ball 91 to notch up 236/5, their highest total at Dharamsala. Lucknow, in response, got off to a worst start losing their top three to be precariously placed at 38/3 at the end of the powerplay.

But, LSG showed some signs of revival with Ayush Badoni and Abdul Samad getting involved in a crucial partnership. With 111 runs required from the last six overs, Marcus Stoinis came into the attack and Samad greeted him with a four and six off the fourth and fifth ball respectively.

Off the very next ball, Samad skied a full toss from the Australian all-rounder while trying to clear the on-side. As the ball made its way back after an eternity, something comical turned up. Nehal Wadhera, who was fielding at deep mid-wicket looked on course sprinting his way to the ball. But he ended up losing balance in the dewy and wet outfield landing on his knees as the ball pitched in front of him.

The Punjab batter, who took an excellent catch earlier in the night, could not repeat the feat as he was frustrated and the Twitteratti was quick to share the laugh out loud moment in the social media.

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s Dhoni’s stumping — something the world epitomises with his wicketkeeping skills. Something similar unfolded at Eden Gardens when Kolkata Knight Riders faced Chennai Super Kings, and the crowd was enthralled by Dhoni’s lightning stumping of a lazy Sunil Narine.
