IPL | Twitter checks with ISRO as Rishabh Pant seen launching bat to orbit instead of sixes

Being out of form in cricket is common but Rishabh Pant’s IPL 2025 campaign has gone woefully wrong with the costliest player in the league stuck in a spiral of sorts. The LSG skipper’s forgettable season continued with another struggling innings against PBKS coming to an end in comical fashion.

‌LSG, chasing a mammoth 237 to end their run of two successive losses and stay afloat in the race to playoffs, got off to their worst possible start losing both their openers in the third over with the score reading 16. Things went further south with Arshdeep Singh trapping Nicholas Pooran, LSG’s top-scorer this season, in front of the wicket for his third wicket of the night as LSG slid to 27/3.

The mantle fell on LSG skipper Rishabh Pant and Ayush Badoni to bail out the visitors from a precarious position at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. After looking out of sorts, the left-handed batter got off the mark with a six off pacer Marco Jansen and scored two more boundaries. But playing out 10 dots out of his first 14 balls and with the ever-rising required run rate, Rishabh Pant started feeling the heat.

The batter, in a bid to clear the fence, stepped out against Azmatullah Omarzai in the fifth ball of the seventh over with the pacer going outside the arc of the southpaw. The wicketkeeper-batter continued his charge, throwing his bat to reach the angling ball as it sailed to Shashank Singh at deep point. But to his horror, Pant ended up losing his bat as the willow flew towards square leg.

That pretty much summed up the LSG skipper’s IPL 2025 campaign as Twitter was busy trolling his comical dismissal.
