Towering sixes are always a treat to watch, but it's the elegance of timing that can be even more captivating. That was the case with Shubman Gill in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he displayed utmost finesse with his sublime flick over the ropes off Mohammed Shami.

‌Desperate to seal a playoff berth, Gujarat were put in to bat first by Sunrisers skipper Pat Cummins. Openers Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan got off to a flying start, peppering the boundaries and racing to 53 without loss in just four overs. Amidst Gujarat’s electrifying opening stand, a glorious six from Gill in the first over sent the packed Motera crowd into a frenzy.

On the third ball of the opening over, Mohammed Shami delivered a full, swinging delivery that tailed back onto Gill’s pads. The Punjab batter was with effortless grace, flicked it off his wrists and timed the shot to perfection. What made the stroke truly special was Gill’s sublime timing and elegant wristwork, as the ball sailed 69 meters over the deep fine leg fielder for a stunning six. The Twitterverse was left in awe, with fans flooding social media to celebrate the sheer class of the shot.
