CSK vs PBKS | Twitter applauds as Chahal celebrates IPL 2025’s first hattrick with his old swag

Picking up a wicket in top-class cricket is in itself not an easy task and that makes hattricks a rare feat to crack in the game of cricket. Leggie Yuzvendra Chahal picked up his second IPL hattrick, the first by any player in IPL 2025, in Punjab Kings’ match against CSK and celebrated in style.

Punjab Kings, after opting to bowl first, were looking down and out in their crucial tie at the MA Chidambaram Stadium as the home team were cruising at 177/5 after Sam Curran put on a show with the bat scoring a 47-ball 88. A 200-plus score looked very much possible on the cards with big-hitter MS Dhoni and Shivam Dube at the crease with two overs to spare.

However, IPL’s highest wicket-taker Chahal had other plans as he walked into bowl the penultimate over with the CSK skipper taking strike. After conceding a six off the first ball, Chahal roared back with Dhoni’s wicket caught at long off.

Chahal was not done yet as he floated another one outside off, a ball later, that turned away from Deepak Hooda as he mistimed it straight to the point fielder. Off the very next ball, he castled Anshul Kamboj to be within touching distance with history once again.

As destiny had it, Noor Ahmad skied the next ball straight to Marco Jansen stationed at long-on to register his second three-peat in the IPL. What followed was something which was missing for a while as Chahal was full swag in his football-esque celebration going down on his knees and then lying on the turf to silence the yellow army. Twitter raised in unison to applaud the leggie’s special feat.
