Cricket South Africa has announced fast bowling allrounder Corbin Bosch as the replacement for injured Gerald Coetzee, who was set to fill Anrich Nortje’s void in the Champions Trophy. In addition, young left-arm pacer Kwena Maphaka will be travelling with the Proteas team as a reserve.

It was on January 15, that Nortje’s unavailability for the Champions Trophy was made official by CSA. He sustained a back injury and failed to participate in the SA20 League for the Pretoria Capitals. On medical assessment, it was confirmed that Nortje would not be a match fit for the ICC event.

Nortje’s competitor during the selectors meeting, Coetzee was supposed to fill the void. However, the speedster incurred a groin injury, thereby adding woes to the team’s misery. Coetzee played just one game for the Joburg Super Kings in the SA20 League but failed to make a significant impact in the game.

South Africa have also included Maphaka as a traveling reserve for the forthcoming mega-event.

“Momentum Multiply Titans fast bowler Corbin Bosch has been named in the 15-member squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan later this month.

The 30-year-old, who made his One-Day International (ODI) debut against Pakistan in December, replaces the injured Anrich Nortje. DP World Lions fast bowler Kwena Maphaka has also been added to the squad as a traveling reserve.

Bosch and Maphaka, along with Proteas batter Tony de Zorzi, depart for Karachi on Sunday to join the squad for the remainder of the tri-nation ODI series,” the Proteas Men handle read.

Currently, the men in green and gold are facing New Zealand in the second ODI of the Tri-Nation series in Pakistan. They have piled up 304 runs in the first innings on the back of Matthew Breeztke’s 150 on debut.
