Arsenal are on the verge of completing a move for Chelsea star David Luiz with reports from the BBC revealing that the two London sides have come to an agreement. The 32-year-old center-back did sign a contract extension in May of 2019, which would effectively keep him at Chelsea till 2021, but has forced the move in recent days.
Reports emerged yesterday that Luiz refused to train with the first-team and instead opted to train on his own, as he wanted to force the move. Further reports from the BBC and even Sky Sports have emerged revealing that the Gunners were considering a move for the Brazilian and that he was at the top of their list, alongside Daniele Rugani.
Now it seems that the two sides have reached an agreement for Luiz, with a fee of around £8 million being quoted. The 32-year old’s medical and various other personal terms should be done before the window closes today, alongside a deal for Kieran Tierney. The 22-year-old full-back has been the club’s top priority this window, with Arsenal and Celtic coming to an agreement over a £25 million fee.
