‌Guyana Amazon Warriors leapfrogged Trinbago Knight Riders to finish second after the group stage matches of the Caribbean Premier League 2025 campaign. The Warriors notched up a huge 64-run home win against Barbados Royals to be level on points with the Knight Riders, but ahead of them with a better net run rate.

Quentin Sampson and Shimron Hetmyer scored half-centuries to power the home side to 189/6 at Providence Stadium before Gudakesh Motie excelled with a five-wicket haul to skittle out the Royals for 125. Motie finished with 5/21 in 3.2 overs, while Shamar Joseph chipped in with two wickets.

Joseph had a dream start as he picked up the wicket of Rassie van der Dussen with his first ball of the innings. The pacer charged in to start the sixth over and fired a 143.3 kmph ball first up, that swung in viciously after pitching on a length outside off stump.

The South African batter was shaken by the West Indies bowler’s raw pace as he was a tad late to bring his bat down. Just as he tried to whip the white Kookaburra down the leg side, it whizzed through his defence before knocking down his leg stump.

Joseph’s blazing-quick delivery meant the stump was uprooted before doing a cartwheel. The Protean batter realised his folly as the jaffa from the pacer exposed the gap between his willow and pads.
