India beat the United Arab Emirates in the opening game of their Asia Cup T20 2025 campaign in Dubai. Kuldeep Yadav and Shivam Dube shone with impressive spells to skittle out the UAE for a paltry total before the Indian openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill made light work of the chase.

‌India started their Asia Cup T20 2025 campaign on a perfect note as they beat the United Arab Emirates by nine wickets in a one-sided game in Dubai. Left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav and medium-pacer Shivam Dube bowled impressively in tandem to pick up seven wickets among them as the UAE were shot out for just 57 runs. The Indian openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill then added 48 runs in just 23 balls as they cantered to the target with more than 15 overs to spare.

UAE surprised the Men in Blue with a decent start after being put in to bat with opener Alishan Sharafu hitting two boundaries in the first over from Hardik Pandya. He looked in great nick, scoring a four and six in the next two overs from Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel, as they reached 25/0 after the first three overs. But Bumrah showed his class, tricking Sharafu (22) with some slower off-cutters before pushing in a perfect yorker to uproot his stumps. Varun Chakravarthy had a good start as he sent back Muhammad Zohaib with his fourth ball of the match, but captain Muhammad Waseem kept the fight alive with three boundaries off Bumrah, who bowled his third over on the trot. Unfortunately, that was the last straw of resistance as things unravelled quickly with the introduction of Kuldeep. The left-arm wrist spinner spun his magic with three wickets in his second over. He outfoxed Rahul Chopra, who miscued a big hit and got caught in the deep, before trapping captain Waseem (19) right in front of the stumps. The Delhi Capitals spinner went one better when he castled Harshit Kaushik with the last ball of the same over as the UAE slid to 50/5. With an eye on rotating his bowlers, Surya introduced Shivam Dube, and he also struck gold with three wickets in his first two overs. Kuldeep returned to finish off the UAE innings in just the 14th over and finished with impressive figures of 4/7 in 2.1 overs, while Dube had 3/4 in two overs.

In return, India were off to a brisk start as opener Abhishek Sharma smashed the first ball of the inning from Haider Ali over extra cover for a six before hitting a four of the next. Shubman Gill was not to be left behind as he joined the act with a six and four in the next over bowled by Muhammad Rohid. The left-handed Abhishek hit two more maximums before getting out in a hurry to finish off the match. However, that did not have any impact on the result as Gill finished the game in style with a boundary off Simranjeet Singh as India ended at 60/1 in 4.3 overs. Abhishek top-scored in the contest with a 16-ball 30, while Gill remained unbeaten with a cameo of 20 from nine balls.
