BAR-W vs TKR-W | Royals Women eye second straight win in WCPL 2025, set to face Knight Riders Women

Barbados Royals Women will take on the Trinbago Knight Riders Women in the third game of the ongoing Women’s Caribbean Premier League 2025. The Royals Women will aim to register their second successive win in the tournament, while the Knight Riders Women will be eyeing their first win.

Barbados Royals Women took on the Guyana Amazon Warriors Women in their campaign opener on Sunday. The Warriors Women won the toss and decided to bat first, scoring 154/4 runs in the allotted 20 overs courtesy of Realeanna Grimmond’s unbeaten 61 runs off 57 balls. Aaliya Alleyne scalped two wickets for 27 runs in her three overs. Later, the target was reduced to 137 in 18 overs owing to the rain interruption. While chasing the target, the Royals crossed the line in 17.2 overs, scoring 140/3. Georgia Redmayne played a brilliant unbeaten knock of 33 (29), following a 29-run knock off 24 balls, with six fours. These knocks helped the Royals Women win by seven wickets to start their campaign on a winning note.

Speaking of the Knight Riders Women (TKR-W), they also played their first game and the tournament opener against the Guyana Amazon Warriors Women on Saturday. Knight Riders Women’s skipper Deandra Dottin won the toss and asked the Warriors Women to bat first. GAW-W scored 129/7 in the allotted 20 overs, on the back of Stafanie Taylor’s 45-run knock, alongside Realeanna Grimmond’s 33 (36), with four fours and a six. TKR-W’s Jess Jonassen scalped two wickets for 29 runs in his four overs. However, the Knight Riders Women fell seven runs short of the target, getting restricted to the score of 123/9 in the entire 20 overs. Lizelle Lee’s 36 runs off 32 balls and Jess Jonassen’s 22 (27) went in vain as the lower middle order failed to execute the run chase.

So, the Royals will aim to take this scoreline to 4-2; on the other hand, the Knight Riders Women will aim to equal the scoreline with 3-3.

Pitch and Weather

The Providence track is expected to be dry but offered grip and turn for spinners. Batting upfront looked true, but the surface is expected to slow down as the match progresses.

It will be a humid Guyana evening with light breeze, with the temperature hovering around 31 degrees Celsius. There will not be a rain threat throughout the entire game for 40 overs.
