Report | IPL 2025 comes up with back-up plan for resumption amidst exodus of foreign players

According to reports in ESPNcricinfo, IPL has come up with a back-up plan in case the BCCI gives a go-ahead for resuming the current edition. However, foreign players have started departing after IPL 2025 was suspended on Friday owing to cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan.
As per reports on ESPNcricinfo, IPL has come up with an alternate plan in case the BCCI gives them green signal to resume the tournament in the short term. With 16 matches, excluding the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match which was abandoned midway on Thursday, remaining to be played in IPL 2025, Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad have been shortlisted as the secondary venues in case the tournament resumes shortly.
However, the BCCI officials emphasised that it will be difficult to resume the tournament in the short-term given the current environment. Additionally, the foreign players of all the teams have started departing to their home countries after the tournament was suspended for a week on Friday due to cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan.
Our players and extended staff have safely returned to Bengaluru and are now homebound to their respective cities and countries. 🙌

We’re deeply grateful for the swift coordination and support from the BCCI, local authorities, and the police who made this possible. 🙏🇮🇳…
