Amidst links with a move to Manchester City and Manchester United, Napoli boss Gennaro Gattuso has revealed that he would be pleased if Kalidou Koulibaly does stay at the club this summer. The 29-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to England this summer although no move has materialized.

While Kalidou Koulibaly played in Napoli’s Serie A opener against Parma, with the Italian giants winning 2-0, the Senegalese center-back has been heavily linked with a move away. Manchester City are said to be his top suitors with the Cityzens having already come to an agreement over personal terms with the 29-year-old. However, the deal has come to a standstill with City unwilling to pay the 100 million price tag on the defender’s head which has seen them consider other options.

But with Manchester United now interested, Koulibaly isn’t short of suitors with reported interest from Spain, Italy and even France. However, amidst said interest Napoli manager Gennaro Gattuso has revealed that he would be open to keep the centerback. Gattuso also admitted that the club are looking to sell him to make up “numbers” having spent heavily on Victor Osimhen this summer.

"I had no doubts, he is one of the strongest champions in the world in his role. He has always given me great availability and always trains well. I would be sorry to lose him, both for the man and for the player. But you know that numbers are important for clubs and at this moment something needs to be done for numbers, but I'd be happy to keep him," Gattuso said, reported Sky Sport.
