EPL Roundup | Crystal Palace thrash Arsenal

Crystal Palace heaped more misery on Arsenal and their beleaguered manager Arsene Wenger by handing them a 3-0 thumping at Selhurst Park in the London derby. The defeat leaves Arsenal in sixth place, seven points behind Manchester City in the race for the last Champions League qualification spot.

Palace opened the scoring with their first shot on target in the 17th minute when Andros Townsend turned in a low cross from Wilfried Zaha after Arsenal failed to deal with a long ball.

The two were at it again for Palace’s second goal just after the hour mark with Zaha picking out Yohan Cabaye who finished brilliantly. Petr Cech brought down Townsend in the box in the 68th minute and Luka Milivojevic converted the resulting penalty for his first Premier League goal to complete a resounding victory.

The result pushes Palace further towards safety as they now sit in 16th position with a game in hand over both Bournemouth and Hull City, who are above and below them respectively. Arsenal, on the other hand, have now lost four successive away Premier League games, conceding 12 goals in the process, and once again have it all to do to qualify for the Champions League.
