Rishabh Pant will miss India’s home Test series against West Indies after failing to recover from a foot injury, which he suffered during the England tour. The first of the two-Test series against the Windies is set to start at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 2.

‌Rishabh Pant is set to miss India’s home Test series against the West Indies after failing to recover from a foot injury. He fractured his left foot during the England tour, earlier in July, and was undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence.

The wicketkeeper-batter looked in great nick during the five-match series, with two hundreds and three fifties in seven innings, amassing 479 runs at an average of 68.42. However, he got injured while trying to reverse sweep a fuller-length delivery from Chris Woakes in the first innings of the fourth Test in Manchester. He returned to complete his half-century before being ruled out of the final Test in London.

India will kick off their home leg of the current World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle with a two-Test series against the Windies. The first game will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad from October 2, while the second Test match is scheduled to happen in Delhi from October 10. Incidentally, this will be India’s first Test series at home after their 3-0 whitewash at the hands of New Zealand in November last year.

The BCCI’s selection committee is set to meet on September 24 to pick the side for the two-match series. In Pant’s absence, Dhruv Jurel is expected to don the wicketkeeper’s gloves against the Windies. Jurel came into the side for the fifth Test against England after Pant’s injury, with N Jagadeesan being named as the backup wicketkeeper.

India started their current WTC campaign with a 2-2 draw in England and are currently placed third in the points table with 28 points and a percentile of 46.67.
