‌Barbados Royals won their third consecutive Women’s Caribbean Premier League title when they beat Guyana Amazon Warriors by three wickets in a thrilling final in Guyana. Aaliyah Alleyne and Shreyanka Patil rescued the side with an unbeaten 27-run partnership as the Royals romped home in a low-scoring match with two balls to spare.

After being put in to bat first at the Providence Stadium, the Warriors could only manage 136/3 in their stipulated 20 overs. Opener Amy Hunter top-scored for the side with a 36-ball 29, while captain Shemaine Campbelle hit two fours and a six to remain unbeaten on 28 off 20 balls. Campbelle’s innings, along with Laura Harris’ cameo, pushed the total close to the 140-run mark, while Shamilia Connell and Aaliyah finished with a wicket apiece.

In reply, the Royals were well placed at 90/3 before a middle-order collapse took the game away from the defending champions. Kycia Knight and Courtney Webb jointly top-scored for the Royals with 31 each, in 37 and 27 balls, respectively, with opener Chamari Athapaththu hitting five fours during her 20-ball 25. But things unravelled with Knight’s dismissal in the 14th over. The side lost five wickets for just 29 runs and needed 27 more from the remaining 16 balls. Shreyanka hit two fours in her first two balls, while Aaliyah hit a six and four in the next over from Molly Penfold to reduce the equation to four from the last over. Aaliyah remained unbeaten on 17 off nine balls while Shreyanka gave her company with 10 off six, taking the side to 137/7 with two balls to spare. For the Warriors, off-spinner Ashmini Munisar ended with figures of 3/21, including a maiden, in four overs, while Nyia Latchman took 2/31.
