Shivam Dube was selected as the impact player for his impressive spell in India’s Asia Cup 2025 opener against the UAE in Dubai. His teammates were quick to pull his legs as they demanded a speech for receiving the award in a hilarious post-match dressing room video uploaded by the BCCI.

‌Shivam Dube was India’s unlikely star in their Asia Cup T20 2025 opener against the United Arab Emirates in Dubai on Wednesday. He returned impressive figures of 3/4 in two overs with the ball to help the Men in Blue skittle out the Gulf nation for just 57 runs before powering home inside five overs to win the contest by nine wickets.

Unsurprisingly, Dube was picked as the impact player of the match by bowling coach Morne Morkel during the dressing room awards announcement, the video of which was uploaded by the BCCI. Just as he stood on one corner thanking Morkel and head coach Gautam Gambhir amid the applause from his teammates, captain Suryakumar Yadav was quick to pull the all-rounder’s legs.

Surya asked his Mumbai mate to give a speech on winning the award, which he tried to ignore. The Indian T20I captain once again asked him to speak and also added that his name was referred for the award only for the speech.

As the other players broke out in laughter, SKY continued telling the Chennai Super Kings star that it was a rule for those who won the award to speak in return. Just as he hesitated, vice-captain cheekily said, “Either a speech or a dance.”

Dube quickly walked to the middle to avoid further trolling, even as one of the teammates continued to mention that he cannot dance. Just as he shook hands with Morkel, he faced further embarrassment as there was a delay in handing the medal.

Surya was at it again as he asked Dube to speak till the medal came, and the other players continued pulling his leg, asking how it felt when he was handed the ball. He finally gave a sweet and small speech, amid loud cheers from his mates, after Morkel awarded him the medal.

The unlikely hero!
