Women’s ODI Tri-Series 2025 | SL vs IND Match Preview: India look to avenge round-robin defeat and pocket series

‌The Indian Women’s cricket team is set to meet host Sri Lanka in the final of the ODI Tri-Series 2025 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday. Having lost by three wickets to the same opponent at the same venue in their third league game last week, the Women in Blue will be hoping to avenge their earlier defeat en route to winning the tournament.

Despite the loss, India Women finished on top of the points table after the group games with six points from three wins in four matches with the island nation in second place with four points. Meanwhile, South Africa Women, the third team in the competition, were knocked out after losing their first three games before ending the series on a positive note with a consolation win over the Lankans.

The Indian Women walk into the final on the back of a confident 23-run win over the Proteas in a high-scoring encounter where both teams went past the 300-run mark on Wednesday. Jemimah Rodrigues headlined India’s batting effort with a 101-ball 123 to register their highest score against South Africa while Amanjot Kaur picked up three wickets in her first match of the series.

Sri Lanka Women, on the other hand, tasted their second defeat of the series in their last game against a Proteas side that was playing for pride on Friday. The host would hope that they would come out of the 76-run defeat and recover in time ahead of the final.

Jemimah is the top-scorer for India in this series with 201 runs from three innings at an average of 67.00 and a strike rate of 112.29, while Harshitha Samarawickrama leads the charts for the hosts with 177 runs. On the bowling front, off-spinner Sneh Rana leads the overall wicket charts with 11 dismissals, and Dewmi Vihanga is Sri Lanka’s top bowler with nine wickets.
