Pakistan Champions defeated West Indies Champions by 49 runs to stay unbeaten in the ongoing World Championship of Legends. Wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal’s explosive century, 113 (62), set a tone for the Pak Champs to put the Caribbean Champs under pressure and restrict them before the target.

Pakistan Champions batted first after winning the toss, the opening pair of Sharjeel Khan and Kamran Akmal stitched a swashbuckling opening partnership of 65 runs in just 6.2 overs. It broke when Sharjeel (14-ball 21) was caught by Dwayne Smith off Kieron Pollard, on the second ball of the seventh over. Following this, there came another crucial 73-run partnership for the second wicket between Akmal and Sohaib Maqsood (17 off 13 balls), before the latter fell prey to Dave Mohammed in the 14th over. Akmal stood there in the middle and played a decisive century knock, scoring 113 runs off 62 balls, with 13 fours and five sixes. After Akmal’s departure, skipper Hafeez also contributed with an 18-ball 23 to help the Men in Green post 200/4 in the allotted 20 overs. Dwayne Bravo, Ashley Nurse, Kieron Pollard, and Dave Mohammed were the wicket-takers for the Caribbean side.

While chasing the target, West Indies Champs found themselves in trouble when they lost three wickets for just 26 runs in 5.4 overs. It was Rumman Raees who troubled the top order of the Caribbean side. Then came an important 42-run knock, played by wicketkeeper-batter Chadwick Walton, who also stitched a 66-run partnership for the fourth wicket with William Perkins (30 off 26 balls). Dwayne Bravo’s 21-ball and Ashley Nurse’s 25 (17) couldn’t be enough for their side to chase the target. Eventually, the West Indies Champs were restricted to a total of just 151/7 in the entire 20 overs. Rumman Raees bowled an unbelievable bowling spell, picking 3 wickets, conceding just four runs in three overs. He was accompanied by Sohail Tanvir and Aamer Yamin as they shared four wickets between them.

Kamran Akmal was adjudged ‘Player of the Match’ for his match-winning century to help his side post a 200-run total.
