All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy was ruled out of the remainder of the five-match series against England with a knee injury. Left-arm seamer Arshdeep Singh will miss the fourth Test in Manchester starting on Wednesday, with fellow pacer Akash Deep also a doubtful starter with a groin strain.

‌The Indian camp was dealt a severe blow ahead of the fourth Test against England in Manchester, with Nitish Kumar Reddy being ruled out of the remainder of the series due to a knee injury. After their thrilling 22-run win at Lord’s, the hosts lead the five-match series 2-1 with the next match at Old Trafford starting on Wednesday.

Nitish suffered an injury to his left knee while training in the gym and will fly back home for his recovery. The all-rounder played a key role, albeit in a losing cause, in the last game, scoring 43 runs and picking three wickets in the third Test.

Apart from Nitish, left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh was also ruled out of the fourth Test with an impact injury to his left thumb while bowling in the nets in Beckenham. Fellow pacer Akash Deep, who played a key role in India’s famous win in Birmingham with a 10-wicket match haul in the second Test, is also a doubtful starter after picking up a groin strain.

With ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah’s workload also being monitored after his return from a back injury, India find themselves in a tricky position at a crucial time in the series. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has named Haryana pacer Anshul Kamboj as a cover for the injured pacers ahead of the Old Trafford Test.
