The veteran all-rounder Kieron Pollard produced a stellar performance both with the bat and the ball to help MINY crush the LA Knight Riders in the 27th match of the tournament’s current season. MINY have kept their hopes alive for the playoffs with this narrow-margin win against LAKR in this game.

LAKR’s skipper Jason Holder won the toss and asked MI New York to bat first; batting first, Nicholas Pooran’s men posted 142/9 on the board in the allotted 20 overs. In the top order, skipper Pooran played a knock of 30 runs off 24 balls, with one four and a six. Later in the innings, the veteran all-rounder Kieron Pollard’s 50 off 36 balls, with one four and four sixes, helped the New York to post a decent total on the board.

Shadley van Schalkwyk scalped 3 wickets at 24 runs in his three overs for LAKR in the first innings, alongside 2 wickets each picked by skipper Jason Holder and all-rounder Corne Dry. Besides these three, the star spinner Sunil Narine also claimed a wicket at just 20 runs in his quota of 4 overs.

While chasing the target, the bowling attack of the MI New York restricted the Los Angeles Knight Riders to a score of just 136/4 in the entire 20 overs. Pollard and Kenjige bagged a wicket each for their side, alongside a run-out and LAKR wicketkeeper-batter Unmukt Chand getting retired out at the individual score of 59 runs off 48 balls, with five fours. Pollard won the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his excellent all-round performance in MINY’s favour.

Eventually, MI New York won the game by a narrow margin of 6 runs to move to the fourth spot in the tournament standings, getting two more points added to their name. Apart from that, the Nicholas Pooran-led side also maintained their one-sided dominance against the LA Knight Riders in the head-to-head clashes in the history of MLC.
