WPL | Twitter reacts as Ismail relishes redemption upon pouching Harris shortly after dropping sitter

There is no redemption without pain, which makes the emotion all the more sweeter as Shabnim Ismail found out on Wednesday in Bengaluru. The Mumbai Indians pacer dropped a sitter to let UP Warriorz' Grace Harris get away scot-free, only to make up for her mistake in the very next over.

The UP Warriorz' threw away a strong foundation to be let reeling at 110/5 by the second strategic timeout at the end of 14 overs, despite being strongly placed at 82/1 just shortly before. The middle-order collapse was triggered by the fall of Grace Harris' wicket and for all the chaos that followed, the dismissal of the Australian power hitter was a mini saga of its own starring Shabnim Ismail in the protagonist's role.

When Jintimani Kalita came on to bowl the ninth over, Harris had already raced to 40 off just 22 deliveries on the back of six boundaries and two maximums as she looked at her menacing best. The 31-year-old added a seventh boundary on Kalitha's second ball and looked to accelarate further with a big heave the very next delivery but this time ended up miscuing the shot. The Kookaburra soared high in the sky, allowing Shabnim Ismail to comfortably place herself under it at long-on, yet as she tried to pouch the white rock it simply spilled from her palms and fell flat on the deck. Both Harmanpreet and Kalitha were unsurprisingly livid while the regret on Ismail's face told the whole story.

However, the Proteas ensured her mistake did not do the team another harm when Harris presented another opportunity the very next over. This time the Aussie tried to dispatch Amelia Kerr down the ground but Ismail was waiting to collect the catch at long-on without much ado. The veteran celebrated by thumping the ball on the deck in aggression as the entire team rushed to embrace her and the bowler, while Twitterati relished the beautiful narrative contained in the space of six deliveries.
