Bangladesh put up an incredible recovery from 35/5 to post a formidable total of 228 in their first game of the Champions Trophy 2025 campaign. Towhid Hridoy and Jaker Ali led the charge with a 154-run sixth wicket stand, the biggest such against India in ODI history, with the former registering his maiden ODI ton in the process. The 24-year-old had toil well over 100 balls under the scorching Dubai sun to get to the milestone and with boundaries hard to come by, most of his runs came through singles and doubles which further toiled his body. By the time the end of Bangladesh's innings approached, the exhaustion began to take a toll and severe cramps followed, rendering Towhid motionless on the ground on more than one occassion as he struggled to even walk singles. However, when the balls began to run out, the batter was left with little option but to give one final push for his century, leading to some painful but hilarious television.
Towhid, batting on 98, was on strike on the last ball of the 48th over with eight team wickets already down. The middle-order batter had a clear plan to farm strike with a single lest he runs out of partners but Kuldeep Yadav's flighted delivery only allowed him to push it towards the fielder inside the circle at point. However, just when one thought Towhid would be resigned to the non-striker's end in the ensuing over, he somehow channelled his second wind to exert his leg muscles one final time as he sprinted across and dove at full stretch. Much to his fortune, Kuldeep failed to gather the throw but there was no sigh of relief from Towhid. Instead, he turned on his back and lay on the floor spreadeagled, with no intentions to get up anytime soon.
Towhid eventually got to his ton the very next ball and somewhat muted but adorable celebrations followed, as was the case for Twitterati.

Fantastic
Towhid Hridoy 100 off 118 balls, the Bangladesh team might have sag, but Towhid has come for his duty in the middle order, his pass on time has been perfect and in the end he has given some pummelling to the all Indian bowlers as it’s been taking out of the worry hundred. Wise!
