East Delhi Riders defeated the Outer Delhi Warriors by five wickets in a high-scoring Delhi Premier League 2025 game. EDR opener Arpit Rana’s 79 (45) was followed by skipper Anuj Rawat’s swashbuckling 84-run knock, which played a game-changing role in executing the successful run chase.

East Delhi Riders won the toss and asked Outer Delhi Warriors to bat first. Sanat Sangwan’s early strike of a four and a six (10 runs off just five balls) came to an end on the last ball of the first over as he was caught by Sujal Singh off Navdeep Saini’s bowling. After Sangwan’s early departure, Karan Garg joined Priyansh Arya to launch a brutal attack on the Riders’ bowling attack. In the second over, the Garg-Arya duo smashed 22 runs, with three fours and six extra runs conceded by Akhil Chaudhary. However, Navdeep Saini and Mayank Rawat made a brilliant comeback in the third and fourth overs, conceding just two and four runs, respectively. But Arya and Garg couldn’t hold back for long, and they smashed 18 runs in the fifth over, bowled by Saini. They continued the blistering approach and scored 12 runs in the next over, to end up scoring 69/1 at the end of the powerplay. Riding on their blistering approach, Arya and Garg stitched a quick 92-run partnership for the second wicket. This blistering partnership was broken by Rounak Waghela as he trapped Garg, getting him caught by Ashish Meena in the ninth over. However, Priyansh Arya’s onslaught continued, and he went on to play an outstanding knock, scoring 111 runs off just 56 balls, with seven fours and nine sixes. Later in the innings, the short contributions of Keshav Dabas (17), Harsh Tyagi (16), and Shivam Sharma (16) helped the Warriors post a big total of 231/7.

While chasing the target, the Riders’ hopes faced a big dent as their first two wickets fell at the team score of 13 runs in 1.3 overs. Sujal Singh (0) and Hardik Sharma (4) were dismissed cheaply by Siddhant Sharma and Shivam Sharma. Arpita Rana tried to stabilise the chase with a 38-run partnership with Hardik Sharma (18) for the third wicket. But this partnership couldn’t continue for long, as the star spinner Suyash Sharma trapped Hardik in an LBW in the last over of the powerplay. But the pair of Rana and Anuj Rawat had some other plans, and they launched a counterattack on the Warriors’ bowlers. It started with 11 runs each in the ninth and tenth overs of the innings, bowled by Anshuman Hooda and Suyash Sharma. Furthermore, Rawat and Rana destroyed Hooda’s plans by smashing 22 runs in the 11th over, with two fours and two sixes. The Rawat-Rana duo continued the power-hitting till the 16th over and stitched a match-winning 130-run partnership for the fourth wicket. This outstanding partnership found its end when Rana was dismissed at the individual score of 79 runs off just 45 balls, with eight fours and four sixes. Rawat carried the responsibility of power hitting to take his side closer to the target, with an amazing knock of 84 (35), with two fours and nine massive sixes. Following the valiant efforts of Rana and Rawat, Mayank Rawat’s late burst of an unbeaten 32 (12) helped the Riders chase the target comfortably, scoring 235/5 in 19.2 overs. With this win, East Delhi Riders have also moved to the second spot in the tournament’s points table, with six points to their name.

Anuj Rawat won the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his unbelievable knock of 84 runs off just 35 balls, including two fours and nine sixes.
