LSG vs DC | Twitter in splits as Pant mockingly threatens Digvesh after duo decide on horrendous review

A captain is only as good as his team, but the saying can hold true the other way round too especially in fast-paced T20s. Rishabh Pant added to his batting struggles at Ekana on Tuesday by failing to live up to the billing in the capacity of skipper as well, before shedding blame for it.

‌Lucknow Super Giants failed to maximize their potential with the bat agianst Delhi Capitals on Tuesday as the side only managed 159 on what looked like a good batting surface. Even though the early wicket of Karun Nair inspired some hope, a steady second wicket partnership between Abhishek Porel and KL Rahul seemed destined to take the game away from them with a wicket the only chance for LSG to keep themselves in the game. However, as the desperation for the scalp grew, so did the disarray in decision making -- most evident through a torrid review taken by the Rishabh Pant-led team in the seventh over.
On the final ball of Digvesh Rathi's second effort, the mystery spinner floated the ball on length well outside off-stump that spun enough to beat Rahul's forward push and thump into his pads. The hosts immediately went up in appeal but the umpire remained unmoved as he called over, prompting the batter to nonchalantly walk towards his partner. Little did he know an intense conversation brewed behind him, where Rathi was busy convincing his skipper to go upstairs and managed to break through the hesitation as the DRS signal followed. However, as was expected by seemingly everyone apart from the two men responsible for the review, the impact was miles outside off-stump and Rahul survived without a worry.
Pant unsurprisingly was livid at his bowler to force the decision and imitated a slap during an animated conversation with Digvesh before laughing it off. Twitterati though was not all jovial as they rained down jokes and criticism on the LSG skipper for not only failing with the bat but also inflicting further damage on the team by wasting reviews.
