When someone is going through a rough patch, destiny can either script a turnaround or deepen the slump. Such was the case with Peshawar Zalmi’s skipper Babar Azam, whose Pakistan Super League campaign began on a disappointing note as he was dismissed for a silver duck by Mohammad Amir.

‌Rawalpindi Stadium buzzed with excitement as it geared up to host its first PSL clash of the season. Peshawar captain Babar Azam won the toss and chose to field, hoping to make the most of early conditions. However, the surface proved to be a paradise for batters, as Quetta openers Finn Allen and skipper Saud Shakeel went on a rampage, piling up 88 runs in just seven overs. Even though the duo eventually fell, the middle order carried the momentum forward, guiding Quetta to a mammoth total of 216/3 at the end of their innings.

The chase began on a sour note for Zalmi as Babar Azam’s stay was cut short in the very first over. On the final delivery of the over, Mohammad Amir bowled a good-length delivery outside off that Babar tried to drive, only to mistime it towards short cover. A sharp, diving catch by Rilee Rossouw ended the skipper's innings for a two-ball duck and triggered wild celebrations from Amir. He turned to his dugout and gestured proudly about the precision of the delivery that knocked over Peshawar talisman.

Babar Gone!!!
