‌WATCH, ENG vs AUS | Captain Salt lits up Cardiff with hattrick of explosive biggies

A bold approach in a team sport often leaves the opposition frenetic and rattled. With the modernising of T20 cricket, such an intent has been shown by many batters including Phil Salt who smacked a hat-trick of sixes to send Aaron Hardie on the back foot during the second T20I versus Australia.

Eyeing to bounce back from the defeat in the first T20I, England’s decision to field first initially seemed backfiring. Heavy run-scoring from the Australian top four helped them put up a 193-run score in the first innings. In reply, English skipper Phil Salt initiated a perfect start to England’s chase where he offered some mightly blows against Aaron Hardie, sending the ball soaring.

Having scored just a single off the first five balls he faced, Salt executed a pick-up whip on a length delivery outside the stumps on the second ball of the third over from Hardie. The bowler dragged the length short on the next ball that he pulled after a short step forward, sending the ball over the deep backward square leg region. Right after, he clobbered the fuller ball outside the stumps with a mighty blow, making it a hat-trick of sixes as the ball landed over the long on fence.

Seeing the insane ball-striking ability from the interim English captain, the Twitterverse appreciated.

Salty Sixes!
