IPL 2024 | Twitter reacts to Patidar teaching Kohli a T20 lesson with four back-to-back sixes

As a sportsperson, it is important to adapt to modern ways with time. However, Virat Kohli’s batting against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Hyderabad reflected the stalwart’s failure to cope up with the latest T20 needs with Rajat Patidar showcasing the right approach to batting in these conditions.

The coin favored Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Faf du Plessis and the Proteas elected to bat first. The RCB openers offered a quick start before SRH pulled the game in their court with du Plessis and Will Jacks’ scalp. With Virat Kohli failing to accelerate halfway through the innings, Rajat Patidar showed the exact way to go about their business by smacking four consecutive sixes against Mayank Markande.

On a strip that the experts termed batting paradise during the pitch report, Kohli’s score read 43* off 30 balls. It was during this time of the game when Patidar broke free to slog the second ball of the eleventh over for a six. He followed it up with another six off a tossed-up delivery over long off. Subsequently, Markande dragged the length back but Paitdar managed to heave it over deep mid wicket. The best part is that the Madhya Pradesh batter did not stop after a hattrick of sixes as he smacked a widish delivery with the turn over deep extra cover with a mesmerising inside out stroke.

Seeing Patidar race to an 18-ball fifty even before Kohli, who opened the innings, the Twitterverse exploded.
