Lucknow Super Giants beat Chennai Super Kings by eight wickets at Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium. Chasing 177 runs powered by Ravindra Jadeja’s half-century, the home side had a great start with half-centuries from KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock sealing the victory for them with six balls to spare.

‌Choosing to bowl first paid off for Lucknow Super Giants as they swiftly got rid of Chennai opener Rachin Ravindra in just the second over of the match. Their early success continued as they sent back Gaikwad in the fifth over. However, Rahane stood firm, showcasing resilience with a strike rate of 162, guiding his team to 51/2 alongside Ravindra Jadeja by the end of the powerplay. Despite Rahane's promising performance, Lucknow's Krunal Pandya dismissed him in the ninth over, breaking the 35-run third-wicket partnership. Lucknow further tightened their grip on the game as Shivam Dube failed to make an impact and departed after scoring a mere three runs off eight deliveries. With Chennai struggling at 87/4 in 11.1 overs Samer Rizvi, failed to turn the tide, as he fell in the 13th over to Pandya. At the end of 15 overs, Chennai Super Kings were at 105/5, with Jadeja batting at 40 off 29 deliveries alongside Moeen Ali. The Indian all-rounder showcased excellent form, and reached his fifty off 34 balls, pushing the score to 123/5 by the 17th over. The crowd at Ekana Stadium was treated to a thrilling moment when MS Dhoni walked into bat in the 18th over after Ali's departure. The former Indian captain played a dazzling cameo, scoring 28 runs off just nine deliveries, propelling Chennai to a competitive total of 176/6 by the end of their innings.

Mirroring their stellar bowling performance, the home team got off to an impressive beginning, courtesy of KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock propelling their side to 54/0 at the end of the powerplay. Lucknow kept the scoring rate up as they reached 89/0 by the end of 10 overs with KL Rahul notching up a half-century in just 31 deliveries gradually steering his team towards a potential victory. As Chennai bowlers struggled to get wickets and break the opening stand, the Proteas star scored his 50 off 41 deliveries with the scorecard at 121/0  in 14 overs. The Chennai side finally had their moment of relief when Mustafizur Rahman dismissed him in the 15th over and broke the 134 runs opening stand. With 43 runs needed off the last five overs, Nicholas Pooran led the charge with a 15-run 17th over to make the result a formality. Even though Rahul (82) was dismissed in the next over, the game was all but done as Lucknow sealed a comfortable eight wicket win. The result helps them get a boost for a playoff spot with three other teams boasting eight points.
