IPL | Mumbai Indians' brand value gets a boost, steep fall for RCB and KKR

An annual survey has revealed that there has been a massive fall in the brand value of Indian Premier League franchises like Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Meanwhile, there's been a significant upsurge in the brand value of the IPL 2019 champion team Mumbai Indians.

There's some bad news for the RCB team, which is led by India captain Virat Kohli, as the IPL franchise who haven't won a single edition in 12 years have now suffered a steep fall in their fortune off the field as well.

According to an annual survey conducted by Duff and Phelps on the Indian Premier League and its franchises, RCB - owned by United Spirits- recorded a significant fall in its brand value, recorded eight per cent, and is now worth Rs 595 Crores.

The very flashy franchise, owned by Shah Rukh Khan, the Kolkata Knight Riders, has also endured a similar a dip of eight per cent in their brand valuation and is now worth Rs 630 Crores.

Meanwhile, IPL 2019 champions Mumbai Indians, who have lifted the league trophy four times, have won a fortune off the field as well with their brand value going up by 8.5 per cent and now their net worth has gone up to Rs 809 Crores.

The overall brand value of the IPL has risen by 13.5 per cent, soaring up from Rs 41,800 Crores to Rs 47,500 Crores. Meanwhile, there's been an increase of 20 per cent in advertising revenues this year and the recently renewed PayTM title sponsorship deal (which has fetched an increase of 58 per cent on a per-match basis over the last deal) are evidence to the undying popularity of the marquee T20 league.
