Bangladesh sweat on Sri Lanka tour owing to security reasons

The Bangladesh Cricket Team were scheduled to play Sri Lanka in three ODIs on July 25, 27 and 29 later this year but the tour has been put on hold amidst security concerns. In wake of the terror attacks in Sri Lanka in April, the Bangladesh Cricket Board have decided to take an extra cautious approach ahead of the team's tour later this year. 

Earlier, BCB president Nazmul Hasan had announced that "there was no way" that the board could afford to send their national side to Sri Lanka owing to the terror attacks in Colombo. But a recent turn of events has seen some positive development with NSI having sent four people to Sri Lanka on June 26 to assess the situation. BCB will have a meeting with the government officials before taking a final call based on the report of the NSI personnel.

"They have recently requested us to continue the tour and promised VVIP security for us," said BCB media committee chairman Jalal Yunus, in an interview to Cricbuzz. "We are waiting for the report of the national security agencies and once we get it, we will sit with the government high-ups and seek for their approval," Yunus said.
