Sachin Tendulkar has cleared the air surrounding Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s comparison as batsmen. The legendary cricketer stated that while both players are very important to the side and he is elated that both of them feature for India, Kohli's consistency sets him apart from his compatriot.

Virat Kohli is widely believed to be the best ODI batsman to have embraced the game while Rohit Sharma’s talent has impressed many since his inception into the national side. By the time both of them are done with cricket, they will, without a doubt, be regarded as legends of the game. Kohli has ample of runs to his name across formats while Rohit has scripted numerous records with his explosive batting. Kohli dictates his term right from the outset while Rohit likes to bid his time out in the middle. From the commentary box, Tendulkar talked about the difference between the two batting stalwarts and lauded Kohli for his consistency.

“In my opinion, both Virat and Sharma are very talented players. They have the ability to score boundaries and sixes off positions a bowler cannot even imagine. And if you talk about one day cricket, many a times, one may think that Rohit’s strike-rate is on the slower side initially, but he has the ability to make up for it by hitting fours and sixes once set. And the opponent looks clueless on how to stop him,” Tendulkar said while being asked about the difference between the two during India's match against South Africa on air.

Kohli has been as consistent as sunrise and has been one of the main reasons behind India’s dominance in recent times. Tendulkar further stated that he is happy that both the players are playing for India and are very crucial to the side.

“Maybe, if there is any difference between the two as per me, that would be Kohli’s incredible consistency but speaking about ability and match-winning abilities, both have been the same. Both have scored a lot of runs in the last three years, I don’t think that Virat has scored two times than that of Rohit. I think both more or less bat at same strike rate and the number of runs and matches played are the same too. I would like to say that, for me, both the batsmen are important and I’m happy that both are playing for India. And both have match-winning abilities,” Tendulkar added.
