Lyon added that he is confident that his side can hold onto the lead in the second Test at Perth.

The Indian cricket failed to better Australia’s score in their first innings as they were bowled out for 283 in the second Test match in Perth on the weekend. Lyon, who picked up a fifer against the Indians in the first innings, believes his team was on the verge of making a comeback in the ongoing series.

However, the off-spinner lavished praise on the Indian bowling attack which that boasts the likes of Ishant Sharma, Mohammad Shami, Umesh Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravichandran Ashwin. All-rounder Hanuma Vihari was also helpful with the ball in the second Test as he put constant pressure on the Australian batting order.

"The Indians have a world class bowling attack and we expect nothing less from them, I was a little bit nervous watching it out there. But, I am a nervous character waiting to bat anyway. It’s exciting, gets your adrenaline going as a player, there's nothing better than seeing good, hard Test cricket," said Lyon, reported The Hindu.

Lyon, who has played 81 Test matches so far, also spoke about Virat Kohli’s aggression on the pitch and dismissed any speculation that there was an issue with the Indian captain’s behaviour. The 31-year old also added that he was confident of his side’s chance of pulling off a win in Perth and levelling the series 1-1.

"Virat Kohli is a great player, he plays on emotion, we all know that. To be honest, I am not concerned (about) how Virat reacts or the way he conducts himself, I am just worried about what we can control in the Australian dressing room and I thought as bowlers we performed pretty well.

"Whatever we get as a lead, we will just have to defend that and we are confident we can learn from our past innings, get better, and it is an exciting time for the Australian bowlers," Lyon added.
