KKR fast bowler Vinay Kumar who couldn’t defend 17 runs off the last over in yesterday’s game against CSK replied to the trolls with a ‘just chill’ tweet. The Karnataka pacer also claimed it to be ‘just a game’ and reminded the fans of the times when defended fewer runs in the last over.

Chasing 202, Chennai Super Kings got off to a flying start as Shane Watson and Ambati Rayudu shared a 75-run opening partnership in just 35 balls. However, Kolkata Knight Riders came back well as they tightened the screws and piled on the pressure with some good overs.

But a thrilling innings from Sam Billings, in which he scored 56 in 23 balls, took CSK close but his dismissal put KKR ahead. With 17 runs required off the final over, Vinay Kumar was given the responsibility of bowling the last over.

On the first ball of the final over, the Karnataka pacer was hit for a six over fine-leg by Dwayne Bravo and it was also called a no-ball for height. The next delivery which was a free hit was hit down to long-on and the batsmen stole a couple of runs reducing the equation down to 8 off 5 balls. A couple of singles and a wide brought it down to 4 off 2. At that stage, Ravindra Jadeja hit a magnificent six to seal the game for the hosts.

From the moment the last over started, Vinay Kumar became a social media target. He was trolled for his inability to deliver when it mattered and hence, he was annoyed. Usually, cricketers have stayed away from social media while they have been subjected to trolls but an irritated Vinay decided to reply.

He tweeted:

The two games he is referring to date back to 2014 and 2013 respectively. Playing for KKR in 2014, he defended 9 runs against RCB and dismissed AB de Villiers to win them the game. And in 2013, he was playing for RCB and defended 10 runs against MI as he dismissed Dinesh Karthik and Ambati Rayudu in the final over.
