Bhuvneshwar made his Test debut match in February 2013 against Australia and till now has played 18 Tests for India in which he has claimed 45 wickets. After playing the limited over series against Australia and New Zealand, the 27-year-old will now feature in the three-match Test series against the Lankans which is scheduled to start tomorrow in Kolkata.
Ganguly has claimed that the swing bowler could have a major say in the series opener which will be played at Eden Gardens.
“The ball will swing and Bhuvi will be very difficult to tackle on this track which may have a tinge of green. He swings the ball both ways and he could be a key bowler," Ganguly told Mid-Day on the sidelines of the inaugural Jagmohan Dalmiya Conclave.
The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president also suggested that India should include three pacers for tomorrow’s game.
“I'd play three pacemen on this track. Mohammed Shami will be the hit-the-deck bowler while Umesh Yadav's pace will be important too," added Ganguly.
