Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan bowled his way into the record books after he took the quickest five-wicket haul in cricketing history against Ireland. The leggie bowled just two overs in the innings, finishing with figures of 5/3 as Afghanistan beat Ireland by 17 runs, by the D/L method.

After a rain delay, Ireland took to the field needing 43 runs off the last four overs and Khan was handed the ball by captain Asghar Stanikzai. The target was still achievable as Ireland had the dangerous Kevin O'Brien at the crease. However, the over became the turning point in the game, as Khan sent not only O'Brien packing but also Gary Wilson.

Ireland refused to give up, and despite losing another wicket in the next over, managed to score 11 runs which meant that they required 29 runs off 12 balls. It was Khan once again who managed to finish the game in just six balls. He dismissed Lorcan Tucker, who had scored two fours in the previous over, off the very first ball before Greg Thompson and Barry McCarthy both followed suit a couple of balls later.

With 28 runs required off the last over, Ireland could manage only 10 as the Asians wrapped up the T20 series in the first two games.

Indian fans will get a better look at the 18-year-old when he plays in the IPL this season after he was picked up for an incredible 4 crores by the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2017 auction.
