I'll hit six sixes again: Yuvraj Singh to cancer survivor kid

Interacting yesterday with 17 kids who had battled cancer, Yuvraj Singh told them that he will repeat his remarkable feat of six sixes again and asked the kids to pray for it. A cancer survivor himself, Yuvraj talked to the kids about how they need to think of the disease as a blessing in disguise.

Yuvraj's six sixes off Stuart Broad in the 2007 T20 World Cup have been the stuff of legends since. The tournament, which India went on to win, marked an inflection point in Indian cricket, and Yuvraj's feat stands alongside India's last ball win in the final against Pakistan as the most exhilarating moment of the Cup even now.

Asked if he would do repeat the feat, Yuvraj said, "You pray, I will hit six sixes again," reported PTI.

The southpaw, however, said he doesn't know how he hit those six sixes. "Many years have passed since then."

Yuvraj was again instrumental in India's 2011 ODI World Cup victory after a gap of 28 years, and was adjudged Man of the Series for his splendid effort in the tournament. However, it was the same year that saw him diagnosed with cancer. The star battled cancer and recovered, and has returned to be part of the Indian T20 squad again.

Playing in the IPL for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Yuvraj has had a moderate season so far, but showed glimpses of the past when he took 42 off 24 against the Kings XI attack yesterday to take the team to a 7-wicket victory.

One of the survivors, an 8-year old boy studying in Class 4 now, told PTI that players like Yuvraj are a great inspiration for him. "I love cricket and seeing Yuvi and Suresh Raina in action gives me immense joy," he said.

Yuvraj also shared his journey through the illness and told the kids how such experiences teach you to not take life for granted. "Think of it as a blessing in disguise that you have an opportunity to live again," he told them.
