IPL 2016: Side strain ends Mitchell Marsh’s season

In yet another blow to Rising Pune Supergiants, Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh was ruled out of the IPL on Sunday after suffering a side strain. Marsh is the third player to leave the Pune team’s squad with injury after Kevin Pietersen and Faf du Plessis were also ruled out earlier.
"Mitchell experienced some pain over his left abdominal area while batting at a training session with his team Pune in the IPL a few days ago. He missed his teams next game and the pain has not resolved. He had scans in India that suggest he has a side strain injury and will now return home for further assessment and treatment ahead of the tour of the West Indies.
"Once we have a better understanding of the extent of the injury we will be able to advise on his return to play timeframes," Cricket Australia sports science and sports medicine manager Alex Kountouris said, reported .
Marsh played three matches out of the seven for the Rising Pune Supergiants this season, taking four wickets at an economy rate of 5.00. He batted only once in the tournament and has scored seven runs against Gujarat Lions at Rajkot.
