India vs England | Practice session affected in Chennai after Cyclone Vardah

India and England could not practice on Tuesday (Dec 13) in Chennai, three days ahead of the fifth and final Test at the Chidambaram Stadium, due to the aftermath of Cyclone Vardah. The hosts have already sealed the series 3-0.
Cyclone Vardah brought strong winds and torrential rains across the city. Although the pitch and the outfield remain safe to host the Test, the damp practice area forced the cricketers to stay in their hotel rooms.
“We have informed both teams that they can't practice here as a result of the cyclone. We have intimated the same to BCCI as well. The practice pitches at MAC B too aren't in good shape,” Tamil Nadu Cricket Association secretary Kasi Viswanathan told the Times of India.
The TNCA indoor facility reportedly was also waterlogged.
“We are just hoping that it doesn't rain anymore,” Viswanathan said. “The next 48 hours are going to be tough. We have to fix the damaged sightscreen. We have to restore the network connectivity in and around the stadium. The stands are to be looked after. There are trees fallen at the entrances of the stadium on almost all sides and they have to be cleared.”
