Having made his international debut in 2008, the world No.22 has since represented India in the recurve men’s individual and team events. A promising talent, Das started archery at the age of 14, under the coaching of Mithu Da. He then moved to the Tata Archery Academy where he was trained under the Korean coach Lim Chae Wong. Thus far, he has won two bronzes and a silver medal with the mixed team, while winning four silver medals with the men’s team, including one at the World Championships earlier this year.
In Bangkok, he competed as a natural athlete under the World Archery flag and beat Jin Hayek Oh 6-5 in the shoot-off in the bronze-medal match. Earlier this week, Das paired up with Deepika Kumari in the recurve mixed team event and won a bronze.
Meanwhile, the compound mixed team of Abhishek Verma and Jyothi Surekha Vennam are set to take on the Chinese Taipei pair in the final on Wednesday.
