Paralympics 2016 | Deepa Malik wins silver medal in shot put

While the Summer Olympics contingent of 120-odd athletes returned home with just two medals, India's Paralympic contingent have bettered them by one medal on Monday as Deepa Malik won the silver in women's shot put F-53 event.

After becoming the first female athlete to represent India in the Paralympics, the Arjuna Award recipient went a step further by securing another medal and bettered her personal best by throwing a distance of 4.61m.

Bahrain's Nedham Fatema won the gold medal with a throw of 4.76m while Greece's Korokida Dimitra finished third with a 4.28m throw.
