Real Madrid star Marco Asensio has confessed that it is possible he could leave the Los Blancos this summer but also hinted that the possibility that he could stay or sign a new deal. The Spaniard has only one year left on his contract and has been linked with a move to Manchester United.

Ever since his ACL injury, Marco Asensio has struggled to put his best foot forward for Real Madrid with the young Spaniard struggling for form. So much so, that the 26-year-old only contributed to 9 goals in the 2020/21 season although that improved immensely last term. The attacker played a key role as Real Madrid lifted the La Liga title and Champions League crown, contributing to 14 goals across all competitions.

However, that combined with the fact that he has only one year left on his current deal has seen many suitors pop up from all across Europe. But reports have indicated that the Los Blancos are keen on keeping their star and thus are willing to offer him a new contract. Yet despite that, Asensio has been coy about his future and instead admitted that there “are possibilities” of him leaving. But the 26-year-old also added that there is “also the option to stay and fulfil my contract year”.

"I have one year left on my contract. Now, I am focused on the national team. When this is over, we will talk. We will see what I will do with my future. I think there are possibilities. There is also the option to stay and fulfill my contract year,” Asensio said, reported Goal.

"Rumors are part of football, and more so at Real Madrid. High-level players are always associated with it. It's something we have to live with."
