IND-W vs AUS-W | Twitter reacts after Molineux’s blunder gifts India a run-out after dropped catch

During intense pressure, one should remain calm and composed and not make mistakes. But Sophie Molineux failed to do this in the World T20 game against India at Sharjah when she and Phoebe Litchfield got caught in a chaotic mix-up that resulted in a run-out after a dropped catch.

Australia lost early wickets to Renuka Singh Thakur but recovered through a 62-run partnership between Grace Harris and Tahlia McGrath, reaching 65/2 by the 10th over. McGrath and Harris were dismissed, but Ellyse Perry helped stabilise the innings, taking Australia to 91/3 in 13 overs. Despite losing Ashleigh Gardner, Perry continued to build a partnership with Phoebe Litchfield, with Australia at 101/5 in 15 overs. However, after Perry's departure, there came a moment when Litchfield and Sophie Molineux were caught in a mix-up following a dropped catch, which led to Molineux being run out.

On the fifth ball of the 20th over, Shreyanka Patil bowled a short delivery that turned outside off stump. Molineux read the line well and aimed to loft it over the backward point. However, she mistimed the shot, sending the ball high into the air straight to Jemimah Rodrigues. Despite diving, Rodrigues couldn't hold on to the catch. Amidst the chaos, the Aussie pair took a single, and Molineux pushed for a second run, but Litchfield hesitated. Rodrigues quickly threw the ball to Patil, who collected it and whipped off the bails to dismiss Molineux. The incident also sparked plenty of reactions on Twitter.
