When a batsman is out of form, it can feel like the ball is half the size and the bat twice as heavy. Lucknow Super Giants Devdutt Padikkal's struggles continued against the Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium, as he fell for a golden duck to a brilliant delivery from Mumbai’s Nuwan Thushara.

A packed Wankhede Stadium awaited the final game of the Mumbai Indians as Hardik Pandya won the toss and chose to bowl first. The Lucknow Super Giants began their innings with skipper KL Rahul and Devdutt Padikkal. Unfortunately for Padikkal, his poor form continued as the southpaw was dismissed by Thushara in the first over.

On the third ball of the opening over, the Sri Lankan bowler dished a perfect inswinger to Padikkal that the 23-year-old attempted to flick it away, but the ball's precise line beat his inside edge and struck him low on the front pad. The on-field umpire Rohan Pandit, promptly raised his finger to signal the dismissal. After a brief discussion with Rahul, Padikkal opted for a DRS review. TV umpire J Madanagopal examined the ball tracking, which showed the white rock crashing between the middle and leg stump. The Mumbai contingent erupted in celebration as Pandit’s decision was upheld, sending Padikkal back to the pavilion and marking the end of his disappointing season with the bat.

The Twitterverse praised Thushara’s superb delivery, taking to social media to discuss the remarkable wicket.
