In a recent development, Chennai Super Kings’ star Matheesha Pathirana has flown back to Sri Lanka to recover from a hamstring injury. The pacer has been subjected to injuries amidst the ongoing IPL season and ultimately has decided to nurse his injury and leave the CSK camp from immediate effect.

Concerns over injuries continue to plague the Chennai Super Kings' bowling lineup, exacerbated by Pathirana's sudden departure to Sri Lanka. The 21-year-old played a crucial role in the team's performance, having taken 13 wickets in six matches this season with an impressive economy rate of 7.78. His contributions were similarly significant in the previous season, where he secured 19 wickets in 12 games.

The decision for Pathirana's return was announced by the Chennai Super Kings social media handle, citing a hamstring injury requiring further treatment. They conveyed their wishes for his swift recovery.

With Mustafizur Rahman already back in Bangladesh, Deepak Chahar nursing an injury, and now Pathirana's absence, the management faces significant challenges in managing their bowling resources effectively.
